Как подключить модули

Есть задача сделать устройство на линуксе, к которому можно будет подключать модули расширения: 16 дискретных входов, 4 RS232-485, 4 Ethernet портов 10/100 Мб/с, модуль IoT. Есть предложение сделать это на USB, но как-то идея множества преобразователей не очень нравится. Может можно все это подключить другим способом?

Тут все сильно зависит от того, что за система используется как собственно, линукс компьютер. Подозреваю, что это какой-то распберри. Так-вот, эзернет там есть, и если нужно больше и не обязательно, чтобы они были именно разными интерфейсами, можно прикрутить свич, или, даже, хаб. 16 входов нужно выведены на гребенку, ну и RS232-485 тоже есть, правда, я не уверен, что их 4ре штуки, но, можно добрать USB переходниками.

Еще вариант, прицепить какой-то stm32, который будет играть роль интерфейсной платы, и включаться либо в эзернет, либо в USB, но тут писать придется резко больше.
